Case Study: Inland Revenue
Inland Revenue Repatriates Content Workloads from Australia to Sovereign TEAM Cloud

The successful migration from AWS Sydney delivers 48% cost savings, improved data sovereignty and local support for IR’s content platform.
In 2025, Inland Revenue (IR), one of New Zealand’s largest government departments, successfully completed the repatriation of its enterprise content management system of record, known as Stax, from AWS in Sydney to TEAM Cloud’s sovereign infrastructure in Auckland.
The migration, carried out over a focused 24-hour cutover window, saw 14TB of data, equating to over 9 million production objects, securely transferred across the Tasman by TEAM Cloud’s in-house migration specialists.
A Win for Sovereignty, Security and Savings
By moving to TEAM Cloud’s dual isolated regions in Auckland, Inland Revenue has not only improved the control and locality of its content, it has also achieved cost savings of over 48 percent compared to its previous hyperscale cloud fees.

A Trusted Partnership and a Proven Cloud
Inland Revenue’s migration marks the third major central government workload to be repatriated from Australia to TEAM Cloud since 2024, collectively generating over $500,000 NZD in annual savings for government. The move also reinforces New Zealand’s broader goal of investing in local jobs, sovereign infrastructure, and a resilient national tech ecosystem.
