Māori STEM Student Scholarship Victoria University

TEAM IM / TEAM Cloud provide scholarships for Māori undergraduate students who are attending to study STEM-related subjects at Victoria University of Wellington.


About Our Scholarship

The TEAM IM NZ Scholarship for Māori is awarded annually to two students interested in all degree disciplines under the science, technology, engineering or mathematics faculties.

At TEAM IM NZ we aspire to support technology careers for Māori students including through scholarships and internships.


Who is Eligible?

  • Applicants must be New Zealand Citizens or Permanent Residents.

  • Applicants must be of Māori descent (proof of Māori ethnicity required via the online application).
  • Applicants must be intending to enrol in Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington (THW-VUW) in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) related field.


Selection Criteria

  • Selection will be based on applicants that are facing financial hardship.
  • Selection will be based on applicants achieving satisfactory academic progress.
  • Wāhine are encouraged to apply.
  • Proficiency in Te Reo or a willingness to learn Te Reo will be beneficial.


Additional Information

  • The Scholarship will be paid over three years:
  • Year 1 $8,000 will be paid towards Halls of Residence/Accommodation
  • Year 2 $8,000 will be paid towards fees.
  • Year 3 $8,000 will be paid towards fees.
  • In the final year of the scholarship, the recipient will be offered a paid summer internship at TEAM IM NZ with a possibility of a graduate role to be arranged directly with TEAM IM NZ.
  • Recipients must be maintaining satisfactory academic progress each year to be eligible to receive the scholarship. Scholarship offers are conditional on the recipient gaining University Entrance and being fully enrolled in a degree program.
